We have many great courses lined up for this year! Our courses are short-term small groups that focus on subjects that impact the faith, life, and health of university students and young adults like you. Small groups run 4-8 weeks on a variety of subjects such as anxiety, the meaning of life, and how to walk with God. They take place after worship on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:40pm at Bethel Church (located at 314 Johnson Street).

Facing Anxiety

Anxiety is inescapable in today’s world. When stress overpowers us and fear infects our minds, it can feel like the peace the Bible talks about is impossible to find. And no amount of pretending, overworking, or isolating ourselves will offer us the peace we need.

In this four-session series, pastor Jonathan Pokluda explores how Christians can face anxiety head-on. With real-life stories from people facing various kinds of anxiety, this series helps us see that peace can be found on this side of eternity.

Facilitated by Mickeelie Webb.

Thinking Series: Seeking Answers to Life's Biggest Questions

Our home is a small, wet, seemingly-insignificant rock spinning around a massive ball of fire, suspended in endless, cold, dark space. Just think about that for a moment. It’s both terrifying and thought-provoking.

Why are we here?

It’s tempting to just coast through life as though all of this is normal, without ever taking the time to consider that we might just be part of a story that is so much bigger than our own. This course provides an engaging, honest, and understandable approach to life’s five biggest questions that will challenge your view of the world and how you live in it.

The Thinking Series tackles the top five questions people are asking today.

Facilitated by Ryan Farrell.

Connecting with God: Growing an Intimate Relationship with the Lord

How can we experience God?

God has communicated with his people throughout the ages in many ways. Adam and Eve encountered him directly in the Garden of Eden, Teresa of Avila experienced him through visions, and Francis of Assisi heard his voice through nature. Connecting with God gives practical advice for communing on a deeply personal level with God. It uncovers new places to look for God, while providing reflection questions and activities to reinvigorate communication with God in such traditional areas as prayer and Bible study.

Each section explores a different area in which we can deepen our individual communion with God, including:
• Talking with God
• Meeting God in Scripture
• Listening to God Through the Creation
• Hearing God Through Other People
• Seeking God in Silence
• Sensing God’s Presence
• Wrestling with God
